Meet our (generally) wholesome and obviously awesome team
Head of Delivery & Tutor/Assessor
I have worked in the Health and Fitness industry since 1999, I started out as a fitness instructor and personal trainer within commercial gyms, and I soon moved on to working for one of the country’s most revered private schools. Within this role I supported the delivery of GCSE and A’Level PE, my focus being Anatomy and Physiology. I was the head strength and conditioning coach for various school teams, which led to them winning medals. As time progressed I set up staff training and established the school as a training facility offering YMCA awards.
After 10 years of working at the school I was offered an opportunity to progress myself again, working on residential bootcamps, taking groups of individuals to remote locations in England, Wales and France. We hosted a week of training where participants would stay with the instructors whilst they learned how to improve their health, fitness and nutrition.
During this time I established Rob Horswell Training to deliver a wide variety of Health and Fitness Courses for individuals. The company has grown over the years to include a unique option of fully funded courses to those aged 16-19, working in partnership with a number of schools across South East England.
I still actively work as a personal trainer, course tutor, assessor and IQA alongside the running and development of the businesses. You may well meet me on one of your courses!
Planning and Delivery Manager & Tutor/Assessor
Avid gym user, self-proclaimed nerd and card game specialist, Jake hated sports in his teenage years, he was uncoordinated, asthmatic and way too cool for PE. He got his first job as a pool lifeguard and from there he started to enjoy the fitness industry, be became a fitness instructor and then a manager at a leisure centre. Soon after he became a first aid tutor and then expanded into sports massage therapy. Now he mainly finds himself teaching personal training, nutrition and first aid.
He deeply enjoys the theory side of things, always wanting to know how and why something works. With this you know that he’ll be able to help you understand all aspects of a course, and always willing to answer any questions.
Sales and Marketing Manager
Sales supremo, and all round good guy (his own words)… you’ll always get an honest answer from Tom and he’ll do his best to ensure you are on the right path for you, with no distracting sales patter just a plan and purpose!
Having spent over 6 years as a professional footballer and working in the fitness industry for almost as long, he has a very broad knowledge of the routes you can take within this world. From learning the basics in the gym or nutrition, to elite level strength and conditioning, he has the practical experience to ensure that when doing a course from us you will be well looked after.
Head of Sales, Operations and Planning
We met Drew when he did his Level 3 Sports Massage course with us. Anyone less fit, or sport like you could not meet (remember when we said we are there for everyone?). He started being involved in fitness in his teenage years when he was a lifeguard and swimming teacher and also was a trainer/assessor for the RLSS in lifeguarding.
After that he became somewhat boring doing a law degree and losing his hair working in the corporate world for 20 years or so. Having escaped that world, he also teaches the piano to willing victims... sorry, students and is the person behind the scenes in our business.
What else can we say about Drew? Well he is the stubborn person in the office that curbs our enthusiasm for new projects to ensure we give you brilliant service in our existing ones. He is annoying, but we accept that, as generally he is irritatingly right in why something should be done a certain way. Trust us, it annoys and delights us on a daily basis, as we know we are building a great training business for you guys!
