Level 2 Certificate in Gym Instructing from Active IQ
This is the base level qualification if you wish to work in a gym as a gym instructor, or just gain more understanding of how to exercise within a gym environment. We run this course in person, as we feel that it is better to gain an understanding of the gym equipment when we can show you. We are still not quite sure how you can describe how to use a bench press or treadmill online and give detailed explanations. This is part of our company of delivering the best service to you, if we can do something online we will if not because it compromises our quality we won't, quite simple in our minds really.
In order to register to do this course, you do not need, a six pack (if you have one, that is ok as well), to be au fait with gyms (that is the point of this course) or have competed in a marathon, ironman, or triathlon competition (although if you have we might ask you to teach while we take a tea break...).
What you do need is a basic fitness level (no passing out after one flight of stairs), the ability to communicate well and explain things in a nice way, and the ability to do some written work (yes we know that is boring, no you cannot get out of it). It is also recommended that you have been in a gym and used the machines, including free weights, so if the gym is not your natural habitat, get a couple of day passes and take a look before coming on the course, this will help you a lot.
We will train you so that you are a competent fitness instructor, which will allow you to deliver safe and results based programmes in a gym. The Active IQ qualification is recognised in all gyms in the UK and is very highly regarded. So whether you are looking to know a little bit more about gyms for yourself, or would like to work in one, this is your course.
